Realizing we needed proper Ugly Baby before shots before any boxes arrived, our lovely friend & stellar photographer, Andrew, beat the moving truck to our place & snapped some commemorative, wide-angle ugliness. He’s archived every inch of the “before” & I’m ever so grateful. So why not meet my ugly bedroom?

The bedroom’s ugly “feature” wall:

With ugly bedroom carpet, and that damn popcorn ceiling…

And an escape route…

Dreadfully dreary. You know how much I hate popcorn ceilings – but what toxic thoughts are left for that filthy, musty carpet? Plenty. Fingers crossed for a transformation bordering on unrecognizable. Until then, it’s good company for our ugly bathroom.

Update: Here’s the slightly-less-ugly bedroom (70%) complete, and now – 90% less ugly – in our apartment before and after photos.

Hey, you want a s'more? Some more of what?

    • Maria, maybe it’s a finishing touch that’s missing from your home office. I’ll even deliver the second-hand mirror scraps. Deal?

  3. Hi, just found your blog. This is a fantastic idea!! I’m looking forward to following your journey!

  4. Well, it’s definitely a… reflective room!! Are there mirrors on the ceiling too?? ;-)

    • Unfortunately, no. They must have run out! Weirdly I think the mirrors make the room darker – they’re in such a stupid place. (Why am I saying this to a designer – you already know this).
