We’re in business, baby. It’s time to turn grey bedroom walls and a biologically hazardous carpet into a bright, fresh, clean and happy yellow bedroom. And not a minute too soon! Would you want to wake up to this?

As delightfully showcased in the Vimeo smash hit “Wall-E: the sequel”, we’ve now got primed and perfect living/dining room walls. Tastier still, we took delivery last Friday of our brand new stainless steel fridge/freezer and stove. High time to return to our set-in-stone do-what-we-feel-like Official Flipping Schedule.
Renovate the bedroom first. We’ve been promised dust in unimaginable quantities c/o the excessive sanding required for smooth walls and ceilings. The ceilings which, officially, have no asbestos! We’ve removed everything from the bedroom, including the bed. It’s now smack-dab in the middle of the living room, and the closest Paolo has ever come to an authentic girls’ sleepover!
The ugly bedroom has been sealed off, hazmat-stylie to better accomplish this slick list:
- Demolish popcorn ceiling – bam
- Remove wallpaper – bam
- Spackle ‘til we enter a new world order – bam
- Prime it, paint it yellow – bam
- Rip out the sorriest, grubbiest carpet this side of the Rockies – bam
- Underlay – bam
- Laminate – bam
Brush ourselves off and celebrate our new, yellow bedroom. All in a week’s work. Right? Right!? To give the designey-minded a taste of our ideas, here’s where we plan to point this trainwreck.
The ugly bedroom we’re starting with…

The yellow bedroom of the future…
Ok, so, some combination of yellow bedroom walls + white other stuff & a laminate floor. And NO POPCORN CEILING. Let’s do it.
{Update: bedroom’s after photos}
Hey, you want a s'more? Some more of what?

Oh my god that wall. The wallpaper/mirror/wood trim combo. I want to reach through my screen and rip it out now.
Oh, please, by all means! You’re more than welcome to.
I know I’ve already said this somewhere, but I was NOT a fan of the yellow until I saw the Tori & Dean episode where they renewed their vows. So cheesy, right? Tori designed the whole affair around white and daffodil yellow, and it was the most gorgeous thing I’ve ever seen! I’m a convert!
Haha, ummmmm….. we’re going to have to agree to disagree on Ms Spelling, but I can join you at the Daffodil Appreciation Society. The only decent aspect of Pacific Northwest Feb/March, as far as I’m concerned. Glad to hear you’ll stick around for the yellow, whatever the reason!
did i miss the post that showed the final skim coating? I want pictures!!
Not as such – it was tucked at the end of the little video clip. I’ll pop some proper photos up when I’ve forgiven Picasa for recent indiscretions! They’re coming, promise.
