Lauren, I was inspired by this post yet again. I am on the Strata Council this year and was put in charge of beautifying our sauna and laundry room. The same budgeting logic I use in my home applies to common areas when the realization of the fact that if I spend on this, my fees will probably go up next year. So I am rallying some neighbours to pitch in some time and supplies to paint the sauna and the cabinets, hinges, etc.

But you know what else spray paints up REEEEAL well? Even better than cabinet hinges? Light switch plates and light switches. No fucking joke. I am so pleased with myself right now. If I wasn't such a snob that REQUIRED deco rocker switches, i would have spray painted all the light switches and plates in my own home. But I didn't. I chose to spend $175 replacing them all because I am a mental invalid and a snob.

Love nasturtiums! So easy -- and tasty, too! You know that the blossoms are edible, right? They add a lovely peppery taste to summer salads. Just rinse off the aphids first. ;)

I've found that Vancouver balconies are really bad for aphids. I too have tried nasturtiums (which I have grown with wild success on balconies in other parts of Canada), roses and some kind of shrub that I can't remember the name of. All were aphid heaven in Vancouver. And I don't care what people say about spraying with soapy water. It doesn't fix the problem. The only solution is to grow plants that don't attract aphids. Aphids are horrible little buggers.

Wait, 30 hours of HGTV a week is too much? What if I mix it up between DIYNetwork and HGTV? That's better, right?

And no, I haven't tried to figure out how to get access to HGTV Canada down here in the states. Well, not seriously, anyway.

So you didn't have to rip out the wall, replumb a 3-handle to 1-handle valve system (which involves torches in the wall, which is where my line is drawn)? You just found a .... thing with a trim kit big enough to cover all the holes?

Could you do me a favour and send me the URL to this product, if you can find it?

Yes! Plants on the wall! http://www.woollypocket.com/living-wall-planters/wally-one
They wouldnt even have to live all that long.
And the pub table sounds fantastic! Fred Meyers(USA) has a fantasticly priced one(I own!) that is easy enough to cover/refinish/sell if you choose to change. It is 42X42x 40ish? Perfect height to stand or sit with elevated chairs!
